Its not available to the public and is currently being run through the ringer by a team of testers, but I was given the opportunity to play it for myself, and after 6 or so hours of 3 separate campaigns, I've been having a blast. Its not remotely finished yet, there are Wonders, faction specific mechanics and scenarios, siege assets for a more Medieval vibe and plenty of other things still being worked on, but the attention to detail, unit models, and variety are really impressive. Some highlights from my sessions so far include starting the campaign with Otto IV as the Holy Roman Empire immediately excommunicated from the Catholic Church, and watching as in the first 5 turns many of my tributaries DoWed me and the Papacy flexing its muscles and working to get many of the major factions of mainland Europe marching on my doorstep. Some factions (like the HRE) start off quite powerful, with good starting units, easy access to Knights, and a strong economy, but have a rough start position that quickly sees them beset on all sides.

The Ayyubid Sultanate begins with a well established Empire, but Crusaders on their doorstep in Antioch and Acre, and the 4th Crusade only moments away. There IS a Pope mechanic, a War Weariness mechanic, unique event chains, and just a whole lot of Medieval flavor. I'll leave the mod team themselves to answer questions regarding tentative release dates or anything like that, but the public release of this campaign has me excited! Its shaping up well • • • • • •. I was sold until he said the battles are like DEI and I saw two huge blobs of cav hit each other in a massive charge and NOBODY DIED.
