Hello; About 3 months ago I was given a MTV MSTB767 set top box and I have managed to get the channelsmostly to tune in but as there was no remote and no instructions given to me (and have never seen a set top box before this let alone owned one) I am not sure if it is supposed to have a program guide or any other functions to it or quite how to get around some things in the units menu or what might be missing from what might be accessable only from an original remote. I got another remote which will access some functions but as there seem to be other things that you can only do with the 'menu' button on the front I am wondering if this is why there is no program guide etc.

I have googled alot over the time and all i keep coming up with is the same Two of the same companies over and over again when looking for user manuels and while in review s on this it seems one or two are different but none of those offer manuals to have a look at. I can see there is supposed to be small users guide that originally came with it according to some of these google searches.

I have also tried a couple of free Manual places like 'diplodocs.com' that I could find but they dont' have mtv brand. I am wondering if there is anyone out there that would have a scan of the instructions or user guide or little manual or know of where i could download one as 98% of the 'different' google sites lead you to one of same two sites which are not of much help at all.

I have also over the time once a month emailed 'Tinshed Trading' who are supposedly the company that made these and not once have I had an reply or ackwlodgement f from them in those 3 months. I have also found no contact that works in Australia to phone them. If there is anyone who may have a scan of the guide or could please lead me or direct me to a free download site I would appreciate it immensly as being a newbie to set top boxes I am sure there are things I am missing and I can not figure some of what appears to be in the 'menu' out or how to or 'if' i can access certain things like a program guide. As the unit was not recently made I can't seem to find anyone but the company that doesn't respond and the former owner didn't use it as it didnt' have a remote or user guide so it was in their cupboard.

It seems to be working ok but as I say I know extremely little about these SD set top boxes only what I have read in trying to find out about this box. The non matching remote I have doesn't do all the things i think it could be capable of and as i say I am not sure about what things are and are not in the menu perhaps but may exist on the original remote only buttons or something. So a user manuel or user guide or instruction booklet would be great.

NOT a solution but some comments if anyone is searching They are sold by Coles $29-49 depending on specials, mtv is nickelodeon/viacom generic product sourced wherever with little support. A decent cheap stb but thats it, you find them thrown out minus remote. The remote is fragile, and costs nearly as much as the whole stb to replace.

Is support $20 for remote I think they said. If you get one wrap it in rubber:-) Another product sold next to them is: The Coles MTV universal remote does not have a code for the STB so if you optimistically buy one at coles,next to the MTV stb stack thinking it should work with the MTV stb, no luck silly fool. The universal remote website doesn't respond, help line is disconnected. The MTV stb helpline has nothing to do with the MTV universal remote product.
